[englisch/amerikanisch, 'ʃɔːthænd'meθəd; wörtlich »Kurzschriftmethode«, ], auch Number System, Studio Charts, ähnlich der Akkordsymbolschrift unter Musikern vor allem im Studio verwendete Kurzschrift für Harmoniefiguren, basierend auf Stufenbezeichnung mit entsprechenden Zusätzen (also 1 bis 7 für Tonleiterstufe, — für Moll, + für übermäßig usw., pro Zählzeit eine Ziffer), weiterhin Angabe des Formablaufs; Vorteil: leichte Transponierbarkeit. Verschiedene Varianten haben sich herausgebildet. Ursprung dieser Ersatznotierung sollen die Studios in Nashville (USA) gewesen sein, deshalb auch die scherzhafte Benennung als »Nashville-Steno«.
